LG confirmes 48-inch OLED-gaming-monitor with displayport and anti-reflective coating

While our information on LG’s first 48-inch 4K-OLED-gaming-monitor is still pretty thin, we’re already looking forward to the UltraGear-branded OLED monitor.

The colleagues from Great Britain already got the opportunity to examine the new products from LG’s audio and video line-up 2022. In addition to the well-known newcomers, such as the new OLED televisions or the recently introduced 4K laser projectors, the event also has a few surprises in store. Steve May reported via Twitter that LG Electronics is probably planning a 48-inch gaming OLED monitor with 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160 pixels). The interesting thing about it: in addition to an HDMI 2.1 interface, the system is equipped with one or more DisplayPorts and is said to have an anti-reflection coating.

LG UltraGear OLED Gaming Monitor is scheduled for July 2022

This is a super interesting new announcement, of which there is not much yet apart from the small information from the UK colleagues. The UltraGear OLED gaming monitor is slated for release in July 2022 (in the UK at least) and will hopefully cross our path at the LG Roadshow on March 1st 2022 in Germany. Until then, one can happily speculate.

OLED gaming monitor with anti-reflective coating

As a gaming monitor, the question arises as what is the maximum refresh rate of the UltraGear gaming OLED monitor. 120Hz, 144Hz or even more? We can also hope for Nvidia G-Sync and/or AMD FreeSync support. For me personally, however, the most interesting feature is the anti-reflective coating, which is unique in LG’s OLED segment so far. Does LG use the increased brightness of an OLED Ex panel to compensate for the loss of brightness caused by the filter? Or is LG Electronics establishing new algorithms so that the display can serve as a gaming monitor without any noticeable loss of brightness?

If the new model isn’t announced in the next few days/weeks, we’ll try to find out more about the still camera-shy OLED monitor as part of the LG Roadshow.
